For Megan, the appeal of Professional Cookery stems from the opportunity to work with a range of exciting foods and diverse ingredients.
"Being creative in the kitchen, expressing our personalities
through food, was a real highlight," she says.
The support Megan received from her tutors was invaluable in achieving her goals. "I always felt heard. My tutor pushed me to be my best, provided amazing opportunities, and genuinely cared about my education and progression," Megan says.
Megan’s apprenticeship provided her with opportunities to work in top high-end London restaurants, where her commitment to her craft was acknowledged by the team she worked with who gave her high praise.
Hard work and dedication
A significant milestone in Megan's journey was winning the Apprentice of the Year award at the West London Business Awards, which her colleagues in the restaurant and her College tutors jointly nominated her for. "It showed that my hard work and dedication had paid off," she proudly states.
Looking ahead, Megan aspires to travel the world, exploring and understanding different cultures' cuisines. She plans to start her Level 3 apprenticeship in Hospitality and Catering at Uxbridge College, aiming to become a chef de partie. Her ultimate career goal is to work in a Michelin-starred establishment, gaining extensive knowledge and eventually becoming a chef de cuisine, with dreams of opening her own restaurant.
Megan draws inspiration from her tutor, who has extensive experience in the Hospitality Industry. Her advice for prospective Uxbridge College students is to choose the right course, be dedicated, and go for it. For those starting, Megan encourages them to be sponges—absorb information and strive to be the best they can be. "Use this opportunity to grow and excel," she advises with enthusiasm.
