HRUC is enhancing its Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) provision.

Our new SEND centre

We have purchased Barra Hall in Hayes from Hillingdon Council. Once modernised, this welcoming new campus will strengthen the quality of our educational services, provide a high-quality inclusive learning environment, and improve outcomes for students with special educational needs. Including those with severe learning needs (SLD).

The new campus will provide a dedicated learning environment for over 60 SEND students.

Each planned group will have a Tutor and support staff according to the need of each student. This is usually in the ratio range of 1:1 (one member of staff to one student) to 1:4.

This new campus will provide us with additional capacity and complement the existing support we have at our Harrow Weald campus which supports PMLD and SLD needs.

Barra Hall will have modern, and accessible facilities available across two floors and will include:

  • on site therapies
  • medical services
  • multi-disciplinary teams, such as Speech and Language therapy
  • and Physiotherapy.

The classrooms will feature the latest technologies, and we will also be providing a sensory room, a calm cave, as well as comprehensive care facilities for our students. There will also be an external play area with a carefully curated sensory garden.

The modernised space will open from September 2025.

We will also be organising future visits so that parents/carers can better understand how the space will support students. You can keep up to date on when in-person events are available on our HRUC website.
