The Aviation Level 3 Pathway is a brand-new two-year programme with a focus on real-world integration with curriculum subjects.

HRUC launches new aviation initiative

Earlier this year (on Friday 13 September, 2024) HRUC launched the Aviation Generation programme to plug the skills gap in the growing aviation industry. Heathrow and HRUC play a significant role in developing that future workforce.

  1. The Industry: This component provides insights into the aviation industry, how it operates, and its various segments.
  2. The Operations: Students learn how airlines and aviation operators utilise their aircraft in day-to-day operations.
  3. The Sustainability: This part of the programme covers what the aviation industry is doing to address environmental and sustainability challenges as it moves into the future.

The unique features are its focus on real-world integration with the curriculum subjects. Students who complete the Level 3 Pathway receive industry Certificates, which can pre-qualify them to enter jobs or the next-stage Pathway when they reach the age of 18, subject to their overall grades achieved.

Due to the industry loaded curriculum content these courses are for the passionate, with dedication to achieving their goals. A learner who completes this qualification is well placed to develop to full occupational competence with the correct support and training.

Aviation Generation @ HRUC is a partnership between Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge College Group and Aviation Generation.

Aviation Generation stands out for several reasons:

  • Industry Partnerships: we collaborate with aircraft manufacturers, airlines, airports, and various other partners. This partnership network provides students with access to training materials and opportunities to join the aviation industry through pathways such as degrees, degree apprenticeships, and direct-entry schemes.
  • International Reach: we work both nationally and internationally, making it a valuable resource for aspiring aviation professionals in the UK and beyond.
  • 21st-Century Relevance: we are committed to providing education and training that aligns with the demands and expectations of the 21st-century aviation industry, ensuring that students are well-prepared for careers in this dynamic field.

Through partnerships, curriculum integration, and a focus on sustainability, we aim to prepare the future for aviation to meet the industry's evolving needs.

Here's what to expect for the Level 3 Aviation curriculum:

  • Alignment with Industry Needs: The curriculum is designed to meet the specific needs of the aviation industry, rather than solely focusing on academic requirements.
  • Industry-Experienced Instructors: Courses are delivered by professionals who are actively working in the aviation industry. This ensures that students benefit from the most current industry knowledge and practices.
  • Tech-Enabled Learning: The curriculum is enriched with tech-enabled learning materials and resources directly from industry partners.
  • Level 3 Qualification: Upon successful completion students receive a full Level 3 qualification (equivalent to three A-Levels).
  • Careers include: Aircraft Engineering; Aircraft Operations; Pilot.
