English - ESOL

You will study ESOL, Numeracy and develop your knowledge, understanding and the skills needed to care for young children.

  • Entry requirements

    This course is for learners over the age of 18. No formal qualifications are needed. You will have an interview and written test to assess whether you have the correct level of English to join the course.

  • Who is the course for?

    If you have English as a second language and would like to start a career in caring for children, then this is the course for you.

  • Study methods

    For childcare, there are theory lessons, practical sessions, group/peer work and observations.

  • How is the course assessed?

    The Childcare units are internally assessed through written and practical assessment methods. You will also have to complete ESOL and Numeracy assessments.

  • Where Next – Job Opportunities

    Although the qualification at Level 1 does not qualify you to work with children, it will prepare you for the next steps either in studying at a higher level or moving towards the world of work.

    A level 2 qualification in Childcare.
