Students who helped make a charity fundraising video were rewarded for their efforts with a visit to the prestigious BRIT Awards.

They toured the O2 arena during preparations for the prestigious music awards, with highlights including hearing Sam Smith rehearsing his set, and seeing inside ITV’s outside broadcast trailers.

The group’s tour was organised by Chartwells, Uxbridge College’s caterers, as part of the company’s commitment to providing added-value activities within the College. Media students had made a video showcasing the work of The Springboard Charity, which is supported by the company. The five-minute film is being used to encourage sponsors to support Springboard’s projects in Nepal.

Phil Melling, of Chartwells Compass Group UK & Ireland, said: "I was really impressed with the work ethic of the students at Uxbridge College, their professionalism and attention to detail was great. It is really important that students compliment their academic studies with work experience, and I am delighted they engaged with the project and that Chartwells were able to support it."

Tom Langridge, Media Lecturer, said: “The students worked to a brief to produce a dynamic, professional video which helped them develop some important work skills and add to their portfolios. It’s great that their work will be supporting a charity too, and that their efforts were recognised with this unique visit to the BRIT Awards.”

The video was made by Summer Manning (19), Shamhain Scannell (17), Shenade Lowe (17) and Adam Curd (20).

Chartwells is part of Compass Group, which is one of Uxbridge College’s Employer Champions. Employer Champions support the College’s skills training and added value activities.
