Our Uxbridge College students volunteered at the Annual Dementia Christmas Event at Yiewsley and West Drayton Community Centre.

They were highly praised by residents and Councillor Jane Palmer, Hillingdon Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Social Care:

“The students who volunteered at our annual Christmas event for residents and their carers were a credit to themselves and their College. They were considerate and attentive to people’s needs and couldn’t have done more to try and assist those attending throughout the day. Several of the attendees are in the mid to later stages of dementia and they showed a lot of patience and compassion, as well as being thoroughly professional and welcoming. They also could not have done more to help staff in setting up and clearing up after the event. This is a great example of partnership working to both support some of our most vulnerable residents and provide volunteering opportunities for our young people. We look forward to working with the College on other opportunities with the council in the future.”

Stuart Clapson, Section Manager for Uniformed Services said: "We have received such positive feedback from all concerned from this event. Volunteering in our local communities and supporting local areas is where the department is moving towards and it is great to see our students representing the College in such a positive way."

We could not be prouder of our caring students, who always go above and beyond, embodying our core values in everything they do!
