    Candidates to have good level of English and basic computer skills.

  • Who is the course for?

    The is the first step to the first qualification in vehicle maintenance and will allow learners to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and career progression in the automotive industry or to progress to level 2 qualifications.

  • Study methods

    Course delivery will be 50% practical and 50% theory. The intention is for most of the theory to be delivered face to face. However, the college has the right to deliver through blended learning, which may include some online learning, including Microsoft Teams classroom, LJ Create, Zoom and other online learning platforms. The Covid will govern the mode of delivery- 19 guidelines adopted by the college and may vary throughout the course.

    Suitable safety boots (steel toe cap) will be required and are a mandatory requirement to carry out practical activities in the workshop - the candidate must provide their boots.

    This is a complete cost commercial course for adults (aged 19 years of age and over), and all students pay fees - there are no concessions available, but an instalment plan will be offered to spread the cost over three terms.

    As per our fees policy: ‘Fee refunds for commercial courses will not be awarded after two weeks before the scheduled start date of the course unless the College cancels the course.’ Certification is based upon the achievement of passing the course content and paying the fees in full.

    This qualification would significantly improve your chances of entering or progressing within the motor industry, including the following roles: motor mechanic, garage receptionist, car salesman, garage trainee and parts personnel.

    Previous students have gone on to work for Cargiant, Kwikfit, Tyre and Exhaust outlets and other small motor vehicle garages.
