Hair and Beauty students are celebrating coming home with a set of prizes after competing in regional heats – including three firsts.

One student, Patrycja Charzynska, even triumphed for the second year running by scooping 1st place again in the Ladies Evening Style category.

A total of 18 students took part in the Southern Regional Heats of the AHT (Association of Hairdressers and Therapists) national competition held at Kingston College.

The winners will now go on to the National Finals in Blackpool next month.

Learners placed were:

Patrycja Charzynska: Ladies Evening Style - 1st place
Maryam Javaheripour: 1st Year Blow Dry - 1st place
Ami Warren: Advanced Skills Challenge - 1st place
Roma Bhangi: Body Painting - 2nd place
Kayleigh Fullbrock: Gender Transformation - 3rd place

Louise Southam, Head of Hair, Beauty, Hospitality and Early Years at Uxbridge College, said: “This is a fantastic result, especially with three first prizes and one student coming first for the second year running. The competition was tough which makes our students’ achievements particularly impressive. Congratulations to them all, and we will all be supporting them as much as we can in the final stage of the competition.”

Tutors Lorraine Osborne, Lisa Edwards and Faye Shurbi were involved in preparing the learners for the competition.
