Students at Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge Colleges are celebrating their excellent achievements, as results for GCSE and Level 2 vocational qualifications have been released.

Across the college group there have been hundreds of students sitting a range of GCSE subjects and results are up on last year with high grades in many areas. This includes many students who have benefitted from the opportunity to improve their GCSE English and maths grades after joining college from school last year.

Loredana receiving her GCSE resultsBTEC and UAL Level 2 vocational qualifications also saw strong results which is testament to the efforts of our industry specialist staff who provide students with the skills and knowledge they need for progression routes to Level 3 or for their move into employment to start their first career.

These GCSE and Level 2 results enable students to access excellent opportunities to progress onto higher Level 3 qualifications including A-Levels, T-Levels, vocational career-focused courses and into apprenticeships. This set of results also complements the excellent A-Level and Level 3 results achieved this year.

Dylan McTaggart, HRUC Deputy CEO and Group Principal said:

“Huge congratulations to our amazing Uxbridge College students on their results and it is so pleasing to see our GCSE results well-above the average for England.

We offer several GCSE and vocational Level 2 options and achieving these qualifications propels our students onto their next steps.

Amongst our GCSE student cohort we have students studying to resit their English and maths exams, alongside their core study programme, to increase their previous grades from school plus adult students who want to gain those essential subjects to take their studies to the next level onto Access courses and beyond.

We recognise that students come from a variety of backgrounds and starting points and we are here ready to provide a fantastic learning experience to support their individual ambitions and their future career aspirations.”

Student success stories

  • Loredana - achieved fantastic GCSE results. She worked really hard for her maths, English, media, biology, and statistics GCSEs at Uxbridge College this year and she is progressing to a high-level course in September.
  • Jollan - who gained excellent results with grade 9s and 8s in his maths and science GCSEs. He has worked so hard this year, especially when resitting his GCSE English and that dedication paid off as he has been awarded the grade he needed for his next steps.

“We are so proud to be a part of our students’ journey, enabling them to take the next steps towards their future goals. Our colleges offer a fantastic opportunity for students to come from a range of different backgrounds, progress at college and go on to extraordinary things.

Students have worked so incredibly hard to gain these qualifications and my congratulations to them all. Their achievements are also testament to the support of our incredible staff who go the extra mile to ensure students can do their very best and move onto the higher-level courses and careers they want to pursue.

Harrow, Richmond and Uxbridge College really is the place for students to thrive and progress and I am delighted to see that in these results. I am also excited for the opportunities that lie ahead for our Level 2 achievers as they go onto their choice of A-Levels, T-Levels, Level 3 vocational qualifications, apprenticeships or venture into their first career.”

For students receiving their results who don’t necessarily have the grades needed to start the course they want, there are lots of courses, apprenticeship and progression opportunities available.
