Dancers and beauty therapists were among Uxbridge College students involved in Good Deed Day, a day of mass volunteering run in partnership with Brunel University London.

The event, attended by the Mayor of Hillingdon, Councillor George Cooper, was based in and around The Pavilions shopping centre in Uxbridge.

Uxbridge College students took part in activities including dance performances, nail painting, making greetings cards, bag packing for shoppers in Marks & Spencer and Wilkinson’s, and providing refreshments.

Donations were collected for charity, and around 145 students took part, recording hundreds of volunteer hours.

Israel Thomas-Rowe, Student Support Officer - Citizenship and Volunteering Activities, said: “It’s great that Uxbridge College has been involved in Hillingdon’s Good Deed Day again along with Brunel University London - this event is a brilliant opportunity for students to share their time and skills with the local community. Congratulations to everyone who took part on making the event such a success.”

Students from Brunel were also involved in giving performances, running taster sessions and information stalls, and putting on other events. Other organisations involved included The Pavilions, intu Uxbridge, DASH (Disablement Association Hillingdon) and Oak Farm Clinic.
