Business students from Uxbridge College are on target to raise around £1,000 for charity from a five mile sponsored walk.
A total of 138 second year students on Level 3 courses in vocational business completed the walk in support of the voluntary organisation Safe N Sound. The charity is a Peckham-based project providing practical, emotional and psychological support for young people and parents, with the aim of reducing gang, knife and gun crime.
Jennifer Blake, founder of the charity, joined the walk after giving a talk to the students about how their fundraising would help other young people.
Lucy Khennache, Business Lecturer, said: “This event was a real success both in terms of the money raised for Safe N Sound and in giving the students an opportunity to run a business event as part of their qualification. We are well on the way to meeting our financial target, and one student has even raised over £100 on their own.”
The walk was from the College’s campus in Park Road, Uxbridge, to its campus off Coldharbour Lane, Hayes.
