West London Institute of Technology (WLIoT) has announced 2nd December from 5-6pm for its first Virtual Open Day following the launch of its new website.
WLIoT - one of just 12 Institutes of Technology licenced by the UK Government to provide employer-led education and training at Levels 4 and 5 (equivalent to up to the first two years of an undergraduate degree) - offers courses in Digital, Engineering and Construction subjects.
The IoT’s first Virtual Open Day on Wednesday 2nd December 2020 is set to include:
* Presentations from Dr Darrell DeSouza, Group Principal and CEO of HCUC
* Presentations from heads of the relevant departments
* Walk/fly through of new IoT building
WLIoT, which was launched in September 2019, is led by the merged college group HCUC in collaboration with anchor partners Brunel University London, Fujitsu, Heathrow and West London Business. Classes are currently moving into its remodelled workshop and learning space on Uxbridge College’s Park Road site in Uxbridge, with courses also being run in professional skills workshops and classrooms on the site, as well as at Uxbridge College’s Hayes campus in Coldharbour Lane and at Harrow College.
Dr Darrell DeSouza Group Principal and CEO of HCUC, said: “It is a landmark in the progress of WLIoT that we have been able to announce our first Virtual Open Day. Even though we are unfortunately unable to invite prospective students and employers on site due to the situation with Covid, we hope this event will give our virtual visitors a flavour of our fantastic new accommodation, as well as the high quality teaching and learning opportunities on offer through WLIoT.”
IoTs are aimed at tackling the skill gaps within the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) sector, and boosting opportunities for students, trainees and Apprentices to achieve the higher technical qualifications and industry skills demanded by employers.
