A sports rehabilitator who is part of boxer Anthony Joshua’s backroom team for the world championship fight against Wladimir Klitschko inspired Uxbridge College students during a visit. Sina Ghami is part of Team AJ, backing the IBF World Heavyweight Champion in his bout against Klitschko at Wembley Stadium on 29 April 2017.
He spoke to a group of about 100 students, taking them through his journey to qualify as a sports rehabilitator, create his own style of training and work with big names in Britain and America including: Joshua; NBA Basketball player Draymond Jamal Green (no.23 Golden State Warriors); James Mulley – previously a League two football player; American NFL player Jerel Worthy (no.94 Buffalo Bills); BJ Cunningham from the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL). He also ran a circuit training session for 35 students.
Sina talked about his time studying at Middlesex University, and also at Michigan State University, completing a BSc in Sport and Exercise Rehabilitation/Personal Trainer & Sports Massage. During his time in the States he worked with various elite athletes through the university, gaining knowledge and experience of NFL, NBA, Ice Hockey and Baseball. He shared images from his life and career with the students, including of him with his hero The Rock, aka Dwayne Johnson.
Sina was taught and coached by Uxbridge College Sports Academy Co-ordinator Shayne Chandler during his time at Harrow College, where Shayne used to work, and afterwards as a player for Beaconsfield SYCOB. The circuit session was based on his own personal training system which includes Pads (Boxing), H.I.R.T.S trainer, TRX, Battle Rope, Tornado Ball, Weight Vest, Reaction Ball, Parachute, Trampoline, Glider, Ladders & Hurdles. As a sports & exercise rehabilitator he specialises in musculoskeletal injuries and corrective exercise.
