Students will study GCSE or functional skills in English and Maths at an appropriate level (between Entry Level 1 and Level 1), alongside City and Guilds L1 Certificate in Employability Skills.
Units may include:
- Personal Finance
- Taking Part in Sport
- Digital Photography
- Understanding Crime and its effect
- Awareness of Equality and Diversity.
In addition to their course, students will work on non-accredited topics to improve their individual, personal, social and living skills. These may include Drama, Sport, Art, Cooking and Citizenship. Plus there will be an opportunity to take part in a work placement.

Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements but we will assess your level of English and Maths to make sure you are working at Entry Level 3 or above. This is to ensure you are able to meet the course requirements.

Designed for school leavers and young adults with various learning difficulties, who want to improve their personal and social skills plus develop their skills in English and Maths.

Where Next – Further Studies
Course tutors will help students to prepare for their next step when they complete the course. There may be opportunities to progress onto another course within Foundation Studies or vocational courses within the College.
