Foundation Learning & Skills for Life

This programme is intended to provide learners with a broad introduction to the hair and beauty sector, equipping learners with underpinning knowledge and skills specific to the sector alongside a range of transferable employability skills.

This course is designed to support progression to further learning and ultimately to work in hair and beauty therapy or other related sectors.

  • Entry requirements

    There are no prior skills, knowledge or understanding requirements for these qualifications. However, learners will benefit from having functional skills or equivalent.

  • Who is the course for?

    The introduction to the Hair and Beauty programme is designed for beginners and school leavers seeking foundational skills in hairstyling, beauty treatments, and salon professionalism. No prior experience required.

  • Study methods

    There will be practical and theoretical units and study methods will include individual, pairs and small group work.

  • How is the course assessed?

    Assessments are carried out across the academic year and learners will participate in both practical and theoretical assessments, creating a portfolio of work.

  • Where Next – Job Opportunities

    Upon successful completion of this course the student could go on to working in a salon or industry related venue.

  • Where Next – Further Studies

    Upon successful completion of this course the student could go on to study a C&G Level 1 in Hair and Beauty.
