The course is designed to empower young adults with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and needs, including Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC). It aims to encourage independence, enhance social skills, promote safety awareness, and encourage community engagement.
Through personalised learning plans aligned with EHCP goals, students will develop essential life skills across various areas:
- Develop the ability to attend and participate in a wide range of activities
- Engage in intentional, two-way communication
- Develop practical skills for daily life
- Improve self-advocacy skills in order to make choices
- Improve social skills and develop relationships.
The curriculum includes practical activities, vocational exploration, communication development, and physical fitness routines tailored to support holistic development.
This course will be delivered at our new campus - Barra Hall in Hayes.
This new campus will provide a dedicated learning environment for over 60 students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and the modernised space will be open from September 2025.

Who is the course for?
This course is aimed at students aged 16-24 with high needs, offering specialised support for those with severe learning difficulties, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, and severe medical conditions. This ensures a tailored educational journey for each individual.

Study methods
Learners will have a programme based on their own individual starting points and needs which is tracked and monitored in a variety of ways, including RARPA and using individual targets that are negotiated and set with learners, carers and therapists.

How is the course assessed?
This course is assessed through a sensory and developmental curriculum with a personalised approach.
The curriculum focuses on developing communication, engagement and experiences.
The curriculum is based on a variety of assessments and a young person’s EHCP outcomes. -
